JUSTICE FOR BYRON SMITH

Justice for Byron Smith is a website project I created for a friend of my parents who went to prison a few years ago. My mom and this man correspond through letters while he is in prison and he wanted a website  made for him. My mom asked me to do it and I thought it would be nice to help someone in need and be a great piece to show in my portfolio. I went with a yellow, white, black and blue color scheme. I made a nice graphic portrait of the man in prison and added injustice motif illustrations to the header. View the live website here

Process

For this website I wanted to do something special for this man in prison and brighten his day with my art somehow. I decided to make him his very own graphic portrait based off of a nice photo of him in a suit. I added a money etching texture to the photo. I tried to shape the lines of the texture to flow in tandem with the contours of his face and body. Then, I decided to add injustice motifs to the header section of the website. I made a logo of the scales of justice with the heavy side weighing government over the weight of the citizens on the lighter side.
